Well, I hate spam, and I try to keep the amount of spam I get as small as possible.

How do people find you to send you spam? One of the major techniques is to automatically scan Web pages and extract email address from the pages.

This raises a dilemma - I want people to contact me for legitimate purposes, but I don't want my email account to become a cesspool of advertisements. I want to make it easy for people to contact me, but hard for spammers to contact me.

For this reason, you won't find my email address on this Web site. Instead, I have to create a little more work so that automated tools won't get my proper email address.

PGP is a standard for exchanging information in a secure and trusted way. There are free PGP implementations for many different platforms. I recommend using some version of PGP and may start to require it if spam becomes a big problem.
