Welcome! I am a project scientist with the Environmental and Societal
Impacts Group (ESIG) of the National Center for
Atmospheric Research (NCAR). I am currently
working on the Disaster Dynamics project. We are creating educational
games for understanding natural disaster planning. Before coming to NCAR, I
was a member of the Center for LifeLong Learning and
Design at the University of Colorado at
Boulder. I received my Ph.D. in Computer
Science studying the collaborative construction
aspects of Open Source Software. You can read my thesis if you are
interested. I received my undergraduate degree from
Cornell University where I studied Computer Science
and Psychology.
The links on the left will direct you to more information about my various
research interests and the systems which I have developed. Although doing
research is far more fun than reading about research, I hope that you will
encounter things that you find interesting.
This Web site is meant to emphasize the "less is more" philosophy of
information design. There is already plenty of stuff to read on the Web
without me adding even more stuff. These pages only scratch the surface of
what I could talk about. I have taken great care to make these pages
universally accessible by the wide range of techniques for accessing the World
Wide Web, but of course I've not been able to test everything. If you have
any questions or comments, or would like to discuss things in more detail, I
encourage you to contact me.
